  4. Jun 01,  · Get the original West German Mercury CDs. They are must-haves. The only recent Mercury Rod Stewart release I've read good things about is the two-disc Anthology set, and that's from Steve recommended that one awhile back.
  5. Sep 04,  · Rod Stewart recorded most of his best work for Mercury records in the early s before he turned his back on his folk-rock roots and unfortunately became a sex symbol. This album contains all of the great material from his first half dozen or so albums/5(15).

  8. Jul 21,  · I have not heard the Warner's material. I have the Mercury remaster of The Rod Stewart Album and it sounds good. Likewise I have the original Mercury releases of Every Picture Tells a Story, and Gasoline Alley and they sound very good. I think they are well-recorded records that have not been subjected to excessive compression and "loudness" yet.
